St. Angela’s has had a Student Council in place since the early ’80s. Consisting of the Head Girl, the Deputy Head Girl as well as prefects from Fifth and Sixth Years, meetings are also attended by representatives of Transition Year. A Student Council liaison teacher is appointed but each meeting is chaired by the Head Girl. Minutes are kept and filed by the elected minutes secretary.

The Student Council is an important vehicle of communication between staff and pupils. Each senior prefect liaises with a junior class on a weekly basis, thus affording each class to have a voice. The elected members also provide valuable assistance to the teachers by taking on a variety of responsibilities: helping with roll call, organising fundraising events, the annual Christmas concert as well as acting as hostesses at evening receptions for parents. Leadership training is provided each year by the Ursuline sisters.
